“Let go of the limitations.”

“Burn your bras.”

“Free the nipple.”

We’ve heard all the slogans and campaigns, but going braless is often easier said than done. So what do you do if you want to go braless but don’t know where to start?

Enter Frankly Apparel: an inclusive, women-owned, eco-friendly small business clothing company focused on creating the kind of clothing that will actually support any size chest, double-A to double D, allowing you to finally burn the bras, free the nipple and truly go braless. Frankly’s mission statement is “to design clothing that works better for a wider range of women,” and they’re doing just that. Frankly’s clothing is specifically designed to allow all women to have the option to go braless, regardless of their bra size, as truly ditching the bra can often be more challenging for people of varied bra sizes. We’ve all heard the campaign to go braless, but Frankly is making it possible for women to actually answer this call.

According to Frankly’s website, the co-founders, Heather and Jane, have widely different chest sizes, yet “both experienced different struggles finding the right fit for their frames. And both wanted the freedom to wear any outfit and not worry about their cup size or bra.” So they started brainstorming, interviewing many women about “their clothes, bras, and relationships with their bodies.” They discovered that “women wanted support yet couldn’t wait to ditch their bras,” so Frankly was born. Heather and Jane decided to “design with a purpose and make braless support the point of it all, instead of an afterthought.” Frankly clothing wants to help women feel comfortable and be confident, regardless of if they’re wearing a bra.

The best part about Frankly is that their clothing is specifically designed to get the support and coverage you need without wearing a bra. They use innovative sewing techniques and high-quality fabrics, designing their clothes keeping women with larger cup sizes in mind. Their sizing is also unique; when choosing your size, you get to pick two sizes: your “upper size” (regarding your chest size) and your “lower size” (how you want it to fit on the rest of the body size). They acknowledge that many women have different, disproportionate chest versus body sizes and take this into account. They also offer sizes to cover bra sizes A through G, aiming to be inclusive to all women and their chest sizes.

As an added bonus, Frankly uses ethical companies, sells directly to the consumer, utilizes the Higg Index to use sustainable and high-quality materials and uses 100% recyclable packaging. Not only is Frankly spearheading the mission to go braless, they’re doing it morally and sustainably too.

Like Frankly states, bras are a social construct. If you want to burn your bra, check out Frankly because they’re doing it right — designing with intention and allowing more women to feel great in their clothing.

So shop Frankly. And finally, finally, ditch that bra.
