It’s A Jessica Day Autumn
It’s officially Autumn, and when I feel that crisp 79-degree breeze in the air, I know it’s time to start curating my autumn wardrobe. This season, while doing my daily Pinterest deep dive, I came across an aesthetic that I have a feeling will be a seasonal trend very soon. Quirky-girl-autumn, or what I like to call: Jessica Day Autumn.
Here’s a guide to how our favorite quirky girl would make this fall a Jess Day classic.
Color Palettes
When we think of autumn, we most likely think of the usual neutral and brown color palette of the changing leaves. Brown, orange, and black are the typical signs of autumn making its appearance. When it comes to Quirky Girl Autumn, the color palettes are a little bit more playful and definitely chic. Here are my personal favorites:
Olive Green and Maroon: A color combo not often put together, but one that deserves its moment nonetheless.
Black and Red: Add some polka dots and you’ve got a ladybug! Totally a color palette Jess Day would rock and be so excited to share with the world.
Navy and Yellow: Hello? Coraline, is that you? This color combo is the definition of Quirky Girl Fall. The perfect backdrop for those star-patterned sweaters.
Patterns
Quirky Girl Fall is all about the mixed patterns, and Jessica Day knows all about that. Polka dots, stripes, stars and moons, and plaid are all patterns that can be mixed and matched to create the cutest autumn ensemble. Some of my favorite patterns to see making up someone’s fall wardrobe are stripes, stars, and polka dots. Jess Day wouldn’t hesitate to put on her favorite polka dot skirt and bold colored tights when that autumn breeze comes through.
Textures
Crochet, corduroy, silk, and more.
Quirky Girl Fall means expression and experimentation, so textures are one of the biggest ways to put together the perfect quirky Jess Day-esque outfit.
Accessories
Accessories galore! Chucky, colorful and unique. As with every aesthetic or fashion style, accessories are a must. Whether it's a statement pair of earrings or layered necklaces, accessories bring the outfit together, the finishing touch. This autumn, here are a few accessories to look out for and add to your Jess Day-inspired outfits.
Scarves: specifically patterned, such as stripes, or textured, such as crocheted.
Baker boy hats: This can really add a chic element to your outfit. Perfect for a chilly fall day or covering up some hairs that have a mind of their own.
Chunky, knee-high boots: these are a great way to spice up your outfit and are perfect for the fall season. They balance out all the layers of sweaters and accessories, pulling the look together perfectly, and you can find hundreds of colors and styles, adding even more texture to the ensemble.
I think it’s safe to say, this style guide is Jessica Day-approved, and you will definitely see me rocking some of these this autumn.
