It’s Time To Grow Up And Grow Your Purse Collection

For the love of God, please stop wearing your five-year-old Michael Kors crossbody bag to the bar. Time and time again, I have seen the prettiest women in the cutest outfits out and about, but then they spoil it by having an unfitting purse or, even worse, a Vera Bradley-type lanyard wallet.

“Choosing the right handbag to accompany your outfit can make or break your look,” wrote Dragana Dujovic in an article titled The Importance of Handbag to Your Style.

When you are younger, obviously, you do not need a bunch of different purses; the crossbody bag from TJ Maxx will suffice. But as you venture into womanhood, your purse collection needs an update.

I took it as far as creating a purse wall in my room so that each day I get ready, I have all my options right before me. Each purse is hung up with a command strip hook, staggered on my bedroom wall, showcasing all my best handbags. Eventually, I collected more purses than hooks, forcing me to double up.

Your purse collection should have various colors, styles, and fabrics.

Mini shoulder bags are great for going out on the town. It’s necessary to have at least one white and one black purse; these are the staples of a good collection. However, adding vibrant, colorful purses to your assortment will give you the ability to elevate any outfit.

An everyday mom purse is currently my favorite obsession. I found a big Y2K brown leather bag at Goodwill for four dollars, and while it is quite literally a black hole, it holds everything I could ever need. Every purse does not need to be YSL or Louis Vuitton. Having one or two luxury purses is great, but you can easily find the rest from thrift stores, Amazon, Target, or other less expensive retailers.

Tote bags, belt bags, mini backpacks, and crossbody bags are all part of my collection and are vital to yours, too.

I also recommend a tiny makeup pouch that will fit in any bag to hold your lipstick and other makeup products you need on the go. This way, instead of losing your favorite lip gloss every time you switch purses, you can simply transfer your mini pouch.

Once you realize there are so many cute, reasonably priced purses and the limit on how many you can have does not exist, you too will have a rapidly growing purse collection.

So, ladies, here’s your sign to buy that purse. One is never enough!
