Prada Girls Rejoice! Raf Simons and Miuccia Prada’s Latest Fall/Winter Collection

Prada girls rejoice! The Italian luxury fashion house is back with their Fall/ Winter 23 collection, and we here at Strike are beyond obsessed. Co-Creative Directors and fashion legends Raf Simons and Miuccia Prada have yet to disappoint us. This collection is proof of just that. This collection was designed with the intentions of reconceptualizing, reconsidering, and rediscovering the very idea of beauty. According to Prada, beauty here is determined not by aesthetic, but by action.  Garments are signs, representations of the beauty of care, of love, of reality.

As guests roll in, we get several glimpses of what to expect in the Prada show today. Famous figures such as Dua Lipa, Leticia Wright, Hunter Schafer, and Maya Hawke were beautifully styled in the Italian brand. Lots of leather jackets were donned upon arrival, and a brand new Prada Moon bag was arm candy on many. Crushed, worn-in leather seems to be the recurring theme throughout their guest list and their latest collection.

While the set remained rather plain with orange pillars, heavy synth beats blasted through the speakers as the models strutted down the runway.  There were 55 stunning looks, all keeping true to Prada’s roots. Our fave, Gigi Hadid, walked, oh and Kendall Jenner did too (go girl, give us nothing!) Nonetheless, we missed Bella Hadid serving as usual, but it was still quite the show if you're into the classic, sophisticated look.

The show started off strong with beautiful skirts, both mini and maxi lengths. Each skirt came in white and charcoal gray, had the loveliest lace and three-dimensional floral details sure to make you want one immediately.  Puffy skirts and dresses also made their way down the runway, proving to be  the perfect pieces to wear with the new Prada Soft padded bag. The most interesting look of the day was their pillow-esque look, complete with the Prada label on the erratic dress.

It’s time to raid your mom’s closet for her funkiest button-down shirts because Prada said so. We’re talking oversized pockets on the front to hold the essentials when the mini bags only fit your lipstick. To adorn the shirts, mini ties, handkerchiefs in place of ties, and crazy-long collars elevate the universal style. Sheer shirts prove that sheer is indeed here, with the newly signature collars. Paired with several outerwear options, whether it's your basic crewneck sweater, leather trench coats, hooded coats, or shoulder-pad blazers. While most of these pieces are in shades of gray, they’re styled with a turquoise blouse underneath for the perfect pop of color. This look has the Prada stamp of approval, and ours too.

Corporate chic continues to cause a craze, despite being trendy for quite some time now. Pantsuits galore as models convinced many of us that maybe we do want one. Bringing new colors into the corporate world with bright reds, baby pinks, canary yellows, and sage greens, how could the working girl not be obsessed? As predicted, leather reigned supreme, shiny, and suede variations are seen on outwear. A selection of dresses showed us that corporate doesn’t always mean boring.

Accessories were major at the show. The pointed-toe shoe has made its comeback. We're all over it, whether it’s a flat, kitten heel, or stiletto. The shoe came in each color displayed on the runway, from army green to black to red to pink. The fashion house also introduced a new bag style: a structured trapezoidal shape with two short top handles; it was the accessory of the day at Prada.

Today’s show proved that Prada will be Prada through and through, sticking to their previous themes of elegance. The fashion house has demonstrated that they’re timeless and classic, just like these pieces.

Strike out,
