Vanderpump Rules, Apparently!

Lisa Vanderpump has been a name in the mouths of reality TV fans for years. However, Vanderpump's name has been thrown around the internet these days, with the resurgence of her reality show Vanderpump Rules as well as her debut of Vanderpump Villa hitting TV screens on April 1, 2024.

With all of this talk surrounding the iconic Lisa Vanderpump, it really made me wonder: Who is this woman, how did she become so successful, and how can I do it?

Vanderpump first stepped into the spotlight when she debuted as a central cast member in The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in 2010. Throughout her time on the show, Vanderpump engaged in classic petty drama – catfights, name-calling, and gossipping are practically requirements for the show. A few years after the show's debut, Lisa Vanderpump began producing and acting in her own spinoff – Vanderpump Rules – which quickly gained popularity. The show started in 2013 and is still filming to this day, with its 11th season premiering this year, amassing more than 1.8 million views.

Before she was a real housewife or the "mommy" figure in Vanderpump Rules, Lisa and her husband, Ken Todd, had many business adventures, mainly surrounding real estate and restaurants. Lisa and Ken, with another husband and wife partnership, opened up SUR Restaurant & Lounge in 2005. SUR, which stands for Sexy Unique Restaurant, is still open today, and it was the inspiration for creating the spinoff show Vanderpump Rules.

Lisa and Ken then opened up Villa Blanca in 2008, which was featured on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills several times. The restaurant closed in 2020 during the pandemic.

Lisa and Ken have several other business ventures together, including a handful of other bars and restaurants, like Pump, another featured restaurant on Vanderpump Rules, as well as a collection of wine and alcohol.

Vanderpump Rules is centered around the employees of SUR, Pump, and Villa Blanca, who work for Lisa Vanderpump. It is a reality TV show, so of course, the episodes are filled with drama and entertainment. The cast fights, gossips, sleeps with each other, and talks sh*t just about every episode.

Vanderpump herself takes on a "motherly" role to the cast, mentoring her employees and getting involved with their personal lives and drama. She even officiated a wedding between two of her employees. Everyone views her as a mother figure or a boss, and honestly, from the episodes I have seen, she IS a boss. I love how she never beats around the bush for one minute and sticks to her guns. When an employee does something wrong, she is the first to directly address the problem and ensure it doesn't happen again. If she feels disrespected, she makes it known and will correct anyone's behavior who treats her with disregard. She knows she is powerful, and she knows how to use that power.

All in all, Lisa Vanderpump has harnessed her name and household recognition to gain her popularity. She kickstarted her wealth by taking a risk and opening restaurants with her husband, turning that into the millions they have today. She has a net worth of a staggering $90 million and reportedly pockets a quick $50,000 every time she appears on an episode of Vanderpump Rules.

Lisa and her husband, Ken, also have a fulfilling relationship with each other. They are seen together on the show constantly and are still seemingly involved and in love with each other after 41 years of marriage.

Needless to say, Lisa Vanderpump has certainly made a name and life for herself, amounting to great success. Let's all look to Vanderpump for inspiration to be our own "girl boss," and maybe one day we'll be as rich as her.
