We Need to be Talking About “Decal Lashes”

While scrolling through my social media one day, this lash application video came across my feed. At first glance, it appeared to be just a regular eyelash extension transformation. However, at the end of the video, I was surprised to see the final product reveal a set of lashes with “drip,” or flecks of heart-shaped glitter and small jewels.

Instantly, I was obsessed.

The creator of the video, @idripluxurylashco, also known as Honey on TikTok and Instagram, calls them “decal lashes.” She titles herself as the creator of this technique, and while other artists have started to take inspiration from her, no one seems to be doing it with quite the same extravagance as Honey does. Although colorful false lashes and extensions have become an increasingly popular trend to keep an eye out for, decal lashes take it a step further by adding jewels and glitter in the shapes of letters, designer fashion logos, and hearts.

Some of the looks are done with standard black lashes and add only subtle hints of glitter or jewels. Below, I’ve included some of my favorite looks from different estheticians and lash artists.

Of course, there are also other sets of standard black lashes that push the envelope even further in regards to lash extensions by going full bling.

Other looks go all out with vibrant colored extensions and jewels, creating lashes that look more like  accessories and fashion statements rather than just a part of the eye.

Personally, my favorite part about this new wave of lash art is the fact that regular people are taking part in looks that have typically been labeled as “editorial” and reserved for avant-garde fashion magazines. Pushing the boundaries and adding something unique to your everyday lashes can be empowering, or just a fun way to add some sparkle into your life.

I’ll leave you with a quote from the creator herself.

On one of her recent Instagram posts regarding the work that she has created and its continued inspiration, Honey states, “Since I started lashing, I've specialized in something that is still so frowned upon in my industry. (Long Lashes, Decals, Glitter etc) ...it’s not just a ‘trend’ but an extension to aesthetics. Outside of the box, and theatre worthy!”

Strike Out,
