After months of anticipation, the wait for the second season of Young Royals is almost here! On November 1, the hit Swedish show will finally be returning to Netflix with more drama than before. The series left off last summer with our protagonists, Prince Wilhelm of Sweden (Edvin Ryding) and Simon Eriksson (Omar Rudberg), fresh off a breakup after the leaking of their sex tape. Wilhelm fleetingly tried to repair the relationship by telling Simon he loved him, but Simon merely wished him a Happy Christmas.

Netflix posted an article following the release of the first look at season 2, talking about the upcoming season. In the article, they stated that “A different kind of heat is coming…Little does he [Wilhelm] know, however, that he’s about to threaten his own monarchy.” The official trailer released on October 8th, 2022 shows this season will be much more intense than its debut season. We also got a sneak peek of  a new character who may drive a wedge between Wilhelm and Simon, stirring up more drama.

Along with the season trailer, the actors have also teased lots of drama this season. During an interview with Gay Times, Ryding stated that “I had a lot of fun during season one and, ahead of season two, I was pretty anxious beforehand because I had a long period of time where I didn’t understand why he did what he did this season,” with Rudberg following that stating “Like, give some drama!” he laughs. “I just love when stuff happens and this season never gets boring because there’s a lot going on. I think people will be like, ‘What? Simon actually did that?! I never thought that about Simon.’ But at the same time, it’s really beautiful to show that people make mistakes and nobody’s perfect, not even Simon.”

The new season is gearing up to be more exciting and dramatic than what we’ve seen before, with new characters and high intensity. When November 1st finally comes, grab your tissues and get ready to watch it all unfold.
