Mi Gente Latina! Bad Bunny And The Grammys

Have you seen this year’s Grammys? Or snippets of your favorite artists? Our favorite moment was seeing Bad Bunny win not one, but three Grammy awards! He won: Album Of The Year (AOTY) for DeBì TiRAR MáS FOToS (DtMF), Best Música Urbana Album, and Best Global Music Performance. Importantly, his AOTY win is a historical moment as DtMF is a Spanish language album, and the first of its kind to win in this category. As Latina listeners, witnessing this momentous achievement, we felt seen and appreciated. When AOTY presenter Harry Styles said Bad Bunny’s name and album he was emotional and in disbelief, his humble acceptance speech was dedicated to Puerto Rico, showing his love and admiration for his people and Island.
Going further than the iconic feat of winning three Grammys, his acceptance speeches were equally moving. In his speech for Best Música Urbana Album he emphasized, “Before I say thanks to God, I'm gonna say ICE out. We're not savage, we're not animals, we're not aliens—we are humans, and we are Americans”

That night, Hispanics were recognized and heard during a time where our voices are too often being silenced. Similarly, when Billie Eilish accepted her award for Song Of The Year (WILDFLOWER), she acknowledged what is happening in the U.S. Staring, “No one is illegal on stolen land” and “Fuck ICE.”
Notably, Olivia Dean stated, “I’m a Granddaughter of an Immigrant” and "Those people deserve to be celebrated.” Many celebrities in attendance made a gesture by wearing pins that said “ICE OUT,” including Justin and Hailey Bieber. These simple messages were loud and impactful, we love to see artists speak up for our Hispanic communities.
Looking ahead, Bad Bunny is set to perform at the Super Bowl LX half-time show which we couldn’t be more excited for! Do you think the handsome Rauw Alejandro might make a surprise appearance with him?
Overall, we are very proud to have a Hispanic role model using his platform and music to speak out against injustices in our country. We love his music, his performances, and most of all his dedication and love for Latin communities. Congratulations to Bad Bunny!
Strike out,
