Vogue World: Hollywood Celebrates the Romantic Collaboration Between Fashion and Cinema
On Sunday, October 26, 2025, Vogue transformed the legendary Paramount Studios Lot into an unforgettable runway spectacular celebrating cinema, couture, and celebrity at its annual Vogue World event. Each year, Vogue World embraces a new, elaborate theme that reflects the cultural atmosphere and supports a meaningful cause. Following a devastating year for the Hollywood film industry amidst the Palisades and Altadena fires, which displaced hundreds of creatives in the film industry–Vogue chose a theme that paid homage to Hollywood itself. Against the backdrop of soundstages home to cinematic masterpieces like Breakfast at Tiffany’s and The Godfather, Vogue World: Hollywood supported the timeless connection between fashion and film—two art forms that inspire each other to create unforgettable worlds and characters.

The forty-five–minute presentation was divided into seven acts, each highlighting a distinct era and style of costume design in film. The segments: Hollywood Glamour, The Renegades, Historical Heroines, Summer of Love, Avant-Garde, Afrofuturism, and New World Costume celebrated the artistry and storytelling power of fashion in cinema. The looks from each act were curated in collaboration with one of seven major fashion houses, who drew inspiration from the work of some of cinema’s most acclaimed costume designers. The creative legacies of Colleen Atwood, Milena Canonero, Ruth E. Carter, Catherine Martin, Arianne Phillips, Sandy Powell, and Jacqueline West served as guiding influences.

The on-screen talent who bring these costumes to life through their award winning performances were not missing from the runway. Nicole Kidman opened the show under the direction of Academy Award-winning filmmaker Baz Luhrmann, setting the tone for an evening of movie magic. Musician Conan Gray embodied Bob Dylan, donning a look from the Academy Award nominated film, A Complete Unknown that seamlessly intertwined emerging talent, legendary musicians, and a new cinematic classic.

Later, One Battle After Another star Teyana Taylor brought new life to costumes from Black Panther alongside Danai Gurira, Angela Bassett, and a fleet of Balmain-clad dancers, blending performance and fashion in a powerful tribute to Afrofuturist artistry and award winning costume designer Ruth E. Carter.

In the same way film is incomplete without its soundtrack, the soundtrack for Vogue World was a standout part of the show. The soundtrack was curated by performances from Gracie Abrams and Doja Cat. Abrams, a resident of Pacific Palisades herself, gave a touching and memorable performance dedicated to her beloved Palisades community, and all those affected by the fires. Following the release of her new album Vie, Doja Cat performed her single “Gorgeous” in a striking chainmail dress inspired by Tina Turner’s iconic look in the 1985 sci-fi film Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, designed by Norma Moriceau. The soundtrack perfectly wove the evening’s story and looks together.

Vogue World: Hollywood was more than a fashion show—it was an unforgettable pop culture moment and community celebration that united the arts at a pivotal moment. The event captured the fundamental and romantic collaboration between fashion and cinema. Through its stunning costumes, electrifying performances, and thoughtful curation, the show brought to life the chaos, glamour, and artistry of cinema. Guests and audiences were reminded that just as films endure, so do the iconic looks that define them. Most important of all, Vogue World: Hollywood honored the perseverance and heart of creatives, reminding us how art can uplift communities during times of crisis.
